I have had the Eberlestock X2 for about a year now. It does a pretty good job all around (shed, archery and rifle hunting) for a smaller pack. Not sure if the load capacity (pack flexes a little too much under heavy loads, like an elk quarter) as advertised on their site is correct and the belt could be beefier. On that note the owner, Glen Eberlestock, replied to me the other day and said those two areas are going to be changed for the better, here in the near future. I do like its features and would look into the new version when it comes out.

I have an X2 as well i have owned it for about two years now packed out two elk with it, really comfortable to carry with some serious weight on it. I do agree that the waist belt could be a little beefier. The layout of the pack is what i like the best. Really happy with it.

You've gotta try whitebuffalo packs. They are some of the best out there. Great quality, and a good price.

Do not get a Badlands....I have owned two and they always fall apart...I sent one back and the first day I got it back went to cinched the compression straps and Badlands extra stitching ripped because it weakened the material....ha...I guess....I've been looking at Mystery Ranch...Seems like they have some people on board that know what a good product is

Mystery Ranch Packs are the best you can buy for extended pack trips where you need lots of space. The cost is an issue, but they more than make up for it in quality. 100 % guarantee on all materials.

I too owned a Badlands. I have recently switched to Horn Hunter. I got the Mainbeam and liked it so much that I also bought the Mainbeam XL. These packs are very well thought out, and comfortable. They both are meat haulers and can handle as much weight as I care to pack. These packs are head and shoulders above Badlands IMO. They are also made in the USA with USA products. Badlands are made in Vietnam, and is one of the reasons I swithced.
Here's a link for ya.

Blacks creek packs in my opinion are the top of the line for space, comfort and durability. I habe owned two garlands and a horn hunter and blacks creek pack that I have totally out perform them all. You can pack bow or rifle with them heavy loads and have a lifetime waranty. Most do but i sent my garlands back like four times cause the zipper break easy and the frame at the top starts sticking out. Horn hunter just has to small of a waist band it will cut into ya with a load on.

Affordable day/use with the ability to haul out an elk quarter, I'm a big Blacks Creek supporter.. I've an Alaskan that I have abused, rode hard and put away wet for the last 8 yrs.. I have tried and I can't destroy it.. Eberlestock packs are junk! They are not tough.. At least the three I owned sucked.. Big time durability issues. I don't baby packs.

I have used the hornhunter mainbeam xl for 5 yrs and it has been the best pack I have ever owned well thought out tons of pockets and everything is organized also has a awesome external meat packing system with 9 strapping pts so your load is rock solid on the pack and not swaying around I have packed out 2 blacktail bucks and a bear hide off a big boar and it was smooth sailing. Just ordered hornhunters new curl pack cant wait to use it. But the mainbeam xl is a great all around pack plus they are made in the USA and have a lifetime warranty
